The Bespoke Wedding Gown of Princess Aisha bint Faisal of Jordan
We were honoured to design and create a bespoke gown for Princess Aisha bint Faisal of Jordan for her marriage to Kareem Al Mufti at Zahran Palace, Amman.

Crafted by hand in our London Atelier, the dress featured a sculpted column silhouette in rich Italian duchess satin. A waist-defining, internal corset was hidden inside the dress – a design signature Phillipa Lepley is internationally renowned for – providing a seamless bodice for a modern square neckline and wide-set straps flowing into a low scooped back neckline.
The corseted waist was highlighted by a framing, peau de soie overskirt with a long train. At the waist, it featured a draped cummerbund and an organically tied, voluminous bow at the back with flowing tails that cascaded down the train – a personal and youthful detail requested by the Princess.

A bespoke high-neck, embroidered tulle capelet completed the look. Designed in-house, and embroidered entirely by hand, the bespoke piece featured signature Phillipa Lepley motifs: delicate maiden’s fern leaves, silk appliqué primroses, satin stitch orchids and violets, embellished with ivory pearls and twinkling glass crystals. The capelet fastened at the back with silk-covered buttons and loops, offering both modesty and refinement. A delicate scalloped hem finished the look.

Princess Aisha paired her bespoke royal gown with a very special two-tier, hand-embroidered, silk tulle veil that echoed the capelet’s floral motifs. Crafted over many hours, the veil featured an embroidered border flowing around the hem and growing up the train of embellished threadwork maiden’s fern leaves and stems, silk appliqué primroses, orchids and violets. The design was completed with bespoke embroidery of the couple’s initials, “A & K,” surrounded by daffodils and lily of the valley flowers – symbols of love and new beginnings, chosen by the bride.

The design process was a true collaboration, led by Phillipa Lepley and her team of artisans at the London atelier. From the very first consultation to the final silk fitting, Princess Aisha was closely involved – selecting fabrics, refining embroidery details, and contributing to every stage of the special creation. The journey included precise calico toile fittings to perfect the lines of the dress, followed by a series of silk fittings in which the gown took shape. Princess Aisha’s sisters, Princesses Ayah and Sara, were present for the final fitting to prepare for the royal wedding day.
The final look reflected the Princess’s desire for a gown that was both regal and contemporary, modest yet youthful. It was a true honour to create this utterly bespoke design.
