Constance
A one-of-a-kind design introduced to the Phillipa Lepley couture collection, ‘Constance’ is a vintage-inspired bias-cut slipper satin dress.
The gown eschews traditional corsetry in favour of a more organic and fluid silhouette. Instead of a signature Phillipa Lepley corset inside, intricate triangular seam detailing cleverly contours the female form in the most flattering way. Boasting meticulous skill and refinement by the artisans at the London Atelier, each panel is precisely cut to enhance the gown’s silhouette.
The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the gown’s construction – a minimalist couture design such as ‘Constance’ requires the most skilled of hands to craft so that the fabric seems untouched. Draping effortlessly across the body, the bias cut creates a silhouette that is both delicate and refined, whilst the back is adorned with hand-crafted buttons and loops from the centre back to the waist.
Taking design cues from the grace and poise of balletic leotards, the dress features ‘cartridge’ pleating on the centre front neckline – a striking visual focal point.
The gown comes alive with ethereal chiffon straps and flyaway wings. Wide extra-long straps in slipper satin and chiffon are organically gathered into the neckline and left free to trail behind the dress when the bride walks, creating a sense of fluidity and movement that is both mesmerising and timeless.
A balance of vintage glamour and contemporary elegance, ‘Constance’ is testament to the artistry and meticulous craftsmanship that went into its creation.
‘I simply adore this vintage-inspired slipper satin bias-cut piece. It was a labour of love created with my team in the Atelier, we refined her fit, balance and proportion over many mock-up toiles.’ – Phillipa Lepely.
Styled at the ‘Radiance’ campaign shoot with a showstopping diamond necklace and tassel pearl earrings by David Morris Jewellers.
