Phillipa Lepley bride Ismini chose ‘Élégance’, an effortlessly refined couture gown designed to complement both the beauty of its surroundings and the warmth in the coastal town of Vouliagmeni, Athens. Defined by its softly draped, off-the-shoulder neckline, the design combines luxurious slipper satin with a silk georgette overlay.
Selected specifically for a destination wedding in a hot climate, the fluid and lightweight fabrics allowed the gown to move beautifully whilst ensuring comfort throughout the day. Beneath the ethereal layers sits the designer’s signature corset – a specialist design engineered to feel lightweight underneath the dress. The corset gently sculpts the silhouette, creating the feminine shape synonymous with the Phillipa Lepley aesthetic, a perfect balance of structure and support without compromising the gown’s effortless appearance.
Minimalist couture gowns such as ‘Élégance’ require the highest level of craftsmanship, where every detail is carefully considered and flawlessly executed. Central to the design is Phillipa’s signature draping technique, allowing each length of fabric to fall naturally. Every drape is created organically on the body, meaning no two gowns are ever the same. Every fold, line and drape is intentional, resulting in a gown that is uniquely crafted for the bride wearing it. Throughout the couture journey, Ismini attended multiple fittings at The Conservatory in Chelsea with Phillipa’s specialist team. From the initial toile through to the final silk fitting, each appointment refined every element of the gown to achieve the perfect fit. Reflecting on the experience, Ismini shared, “The team were extremely attentive and adjusted every little detail down to perfection.”
When beginning her search for a wedding dress, Ismini didn’t look too far from home. Living just around the corner from The Phillipa Lepley Shop & Conservatory, she requested her appointment to begin her couture journey.
“I would pass the store every time I left the house and I would look at the dresses almost every time. I would always joke that it was fate and if I ended up getting married I would have to get my dress from Phillipa Lepley. Needless to say that when I got engaged, my first wedding dress appointment was at Phillipa Lepley.”
