Maiden’s Fern Capelet

A new versatile styling piece within the Phillipa Lepey collection, the Maiden’s Fern Capelet is a hand-embroidered ‘short-long’ tulle capelet with a high-neck collar.

Inspired by nature’s own poetry, the capelet is hand-embroidered with Phillipa’s signature maiden’s fern design. Delicate throngs of thread work maiden’s fern, primroses, orchids and satin stitch leaves dance across the tulle in a symmetrical design, embellished with ivory pearls and tiny glass beads that catch the light.

A considered placement of each individual embroidered floral motif results in a flawless finish, where seams are hidden from sight. The face is framed by a high-neck collar with five hand-embroidered primroses as the focal point, while the scallop hem boasts an organic ‘wiggling’ motif edge of primroses. Designed in-house by the Atelier team, the embroidery appears whispered together, intentionally yet naturally designed with a delicate touch.

Phillipa’s love for the curvature of the female form shines through in the piece. Sitting just above the corseted waist, the capelet frames the bride with a full semi circle silhouette. This framing effect can be further enhanced by adding a veil to the bridal look.

Phillipa styled the Maiden’s Fern Capelet with an ivory crepe ‘princess line’ gown for the Radiance campaign shoot. Featuring a smooth, strapless neckline and a signature internal corset, the gown perfectly compliments the silhouette of the capelet, with a small petticoat adding just the right amount of volume.

For brides who seek versatility in their look, the capelet is a removable styling piece that can extend the wear of your wedding dress throughout the day. Some brides may choose to wear the capelet for their ceremony before changing into a sparkly button back top or overlay for the reception, whilst some may want to keep it on all day. The timeless design ensures seamless integration into various silhouettes in the Phillipa Lepley collection.
