Phillipa Lepley bride Lola
A clean, modern bridal look, defined by distinctive daisy lace and detachable straps.
Phillipa Lepley bride Lucy married in Devon wearing an ivory duchess satin couture gown, with a detachable high-neck overlay in ‘Geneva Buttercup’ lace.
The foundation of Lucy’s gown was a signature Phillipa Lepley silhouette: a strapless, corseted bodice with a defined waist, falling into a full A-line skirt. Crafted in Italian duchess satin, the gown was moulded around Lucy’s proportions during couture fittings at the Phillipa Lepley Conservatory. Petticoats gave the skirt its volume, creating the contrast between the defined waist and full silhouette that has long been characteristic of Phillipa’s designs.
For the ceremony, Lucy wore a detachable ‘Geneva Buttercup’ lace overlay, featuring a timeless high neckline and cap sleeves. Made from fine French corded lace, its warmer ivory tone contrasted with the lustre of the duchess satin beneath, allowing the intricate lace pattern to stand out.
Particular attention was given to the finishing. Along the neckline, sleeve edges and hem, the lace was finished with delicate scalloped edging, featuring three miniature scallops within each larger scallop and fine eyelash threads along the edges. Each detail was carefully finished by hand in the Atelier.
Lucy completed the look with a single-tier veil edged in matching ‘Buttercup’ lace. The lace extended all the way to the face, framing the neckline and completing the look.
For the evening reception, Lucy transformed her gown by removing the lace overlay to reveal the strapless duchess satin silhouette beneath. An ivory satin sash, tied into a bow at the back, accentuated the waist, while the long train could be looped up for dancing.
