Phillipa Lepley bride Henrietta wore ‘Apple & Oak Tied Back’ for her quintessential English countryside wedding.

“For as long as I have lived in London I have always walked past the Phillipa Lepley window and awed at the beautiful creations inside. As soon as I got engaged it was one of the first calls I made. Every single detail of the experience was impeccable.”

The demure, long-sleeved wedding dress featured intricate Apple Blossom and Oak leaf lace, extending across the bodice, sleeves and skirt. Scalloped lace edges followed the hem and sleeve openings, carrying the motif through the design.

A soft, draped square neckline framed the feminine décolletage, sitting over a signature Phillipa Lepley sculpting corset. The bodice led into long lace sleeves, finished with a cleverly constructed origami-like pleated sleeve head which created a strong silhouette in contrast with the defined waist.

At each sleeve opening, six hand-sewn bridal buttons and loops were meticulously placed along the scallop before being sewn by Phillipa’s senior hand-finisher. The hem was finished with matching hand-appliquéd scallop detailing.

At the back, an integrated lace ‘apron’ overskirt formed the focal point of the dress. Asymmetrical scalloped ties gathered into a bridal bow before the skirt descended into a long train.

“I loved the simplicity of the silhouette but the way it had unexpected detailing like the lace bow at the back.It was the perfect mix of tradition and intrigue.”

Henrietta paired the dress with a fine, two-tier plain silk tulle veil, allowing the intricate lace to remain the focus. Phillipa Lepley couture veils are made from the finest silk tulle from France, creating the light, floating quality Phillipa describes as “a cloud of bridal” around the bride.

Henrietta married in the heart of the English countryside at her family home, followed by a garden marquee reception.

“It is so much more than just a dress – it is a creation of true delight – beyond anything I could have ever imagined and was by far one of the most magical things about the wedding.”
