Phillipa Lepley bride Victoire
A couture, duchess satin wedding dress with off-the-shoulder tied bows. Paired with a hand-embroidered wildflower meadow veil.
Travelling from New York, Kylen came to our London atelier for the creation of her couture gown and coat – her fittings consolidated around her travel plans, as we do for every bride joining us from overseas.
Married in France, Kylen wore a strapless couture gown in heavyweight ivory Italian duchess satin, its clean silhouette anchored by the signature Phillipa Lepley corset to define the waist. Paired over it, our ‘Apple and Oak’ lace coat – one of the brand’s most iconic designs – crafted from intricate corded French lace, shaped and moulded in the London atelier into its signature motifs of apple and oak leaves. The design included strong moulded shoulders for a proud, powerful look, the sleeve finished at the base of the wrist bone in an elegant position.
Statement appliquéd lace scallops followed the neckline, sleeve openings, centre front and hem, each finished with hand-sewn buttons and loops that trace the scallop’s organic line – a beautiful couture detail. The coat’s high-neck collar, a defining feature of a Phillipa Lepley silhouette, framed the look. The train, extended to 85 inches, allowed the full detail of the lace to be seen.
The result was two pieces designed to be worn together, each complete in its own right – the versatility that only couture allows.
