Ali Astall Marries Declan Donnelly

Ali Astall married Declan Donnelly in a couture Phillipa Lepley wedding dress in Newcastle, UK, in 2015.

Ali chose to create a timeless dress with a bateau neckline. It had a silk zibeline, slightly pleated, full skirt and a low v-shaped back. A long train added a touch of drama, stunning in its simplicity.

The purity of the design allowed her gorgeous figure to shine, perfectly accentuating her waist and framing her face. Moulded and shaped around her body, it was sumptuously smooth, concealing one of Phillipa Lepley’s famous corsets.

The pale ivory tone of the dress lit up Ali’s face, reflecting the light beautifully with a warmth that was regal, luxurious and photographed beautifully.

Every detail of this Phillipa Lepley wedding dress was designed to be light, delicate and feminine, finished with a thin satin belt and a short, silk tulle veil bound in ivory duchess satin.

Ali’s dress was perfectly finished with her chosen accessories. The chic, crisp lines of the narrow belt and satin edged veil complimented the timeless lines of her Phillipa Lepley wedding dress beautifully. Phillipa’s design eye and attention to detail ensures that every element is considerately chosen to create an unforgettable bridal look.

Phillipa says, “Ali has the most beautiful face. The dress she chose was so perfect for her – the quality of the fabric combined with the fabulous shape came together so well, letting the beauty of the bride shine. We were enormously proud to create her dress for their wedding day.”

Phillipa Lepley is recognised globally as a leading British wedding dress and eveningwear designer, renowned for bespoke couture dresses of the utmost luxury. Her wedding dress shop in London, Chelsea, has over 50 dresses, all of which have been made in England from start to finish at her atelier.
