Phillipa Lepley bride Victoire
A couture, duchess satin wedding dress with off-the-shoulder tied bows. Paired with a hand-embroidered wildflower meadow veil.
Phillipa Lepley bride Violet chose a couture lace wedding dress, consisting of a signature corseted duchess satin bodice, layered with ‘Sea Wave’ lace and individually hand-embellished pearls.
Travelling internationally, Violet came to our London Atelier from Bulgaria for the creation of her couture gown. Phillipa’s team worked with Violet to curate a personalised fitting schedule, something that every bride joining us from overseas can benefit from. During couture fittings which took place at the Phillipa Lepley Conservatory in Chelsea, Violet watched her dress come to life on and around her as every proportion was made specifically to flatter her frame. Each line was hand drawn on Violet who approved the design at every stage.
Married in Lake Como, where Phillipa’s duchess satin is originally derived – the design layered ‘Sea Wave’ lace over a satin bodice. This was hand-embellished with timeless pearls, in a dégradé effect, the density lessening out over the bodice to transition to a lightweight, satin chiffon skirt. Each pearl was individually placed, and hand sewn, the modern romantic silhouette juxtaposed with traditional pearls. The design included statement lace scallops following the décolleté and straps, finished with delicate eyelashes – a beautiful couture detail highlighting the intricacies of the dress.
Violet opted for a long train which was finished with a ‘pin hem’ – a traditional couture hemming technique that requires intricate skill and craftmanship, creating a subtle wave-like effect on the train. Complementing the ‘Sea Wave’ lace on the bodice, the satin chiffon skirt was lightweight and provided lots of movement, perfect for her Italian destination wedding.
