Phillipa Lepley bride Alexandra embodied the essence of timeless elegance on her Spanish wedding day wearing a couture duchess satin gown and hand-embroidered silk tulle veil.

Flying internationally to London for the creation of her couture wedding dress, Alexandra underwent several fittings to refine the design of the gown. Each fitting session was an exploration of craftsmanship, honing the dress to ensure unparalleled fit and comfort. In between each fitting, the dress was hand-crafted in our Atelier.

‘Every appointment at Phillipa Lepley is now a cherished memory. I truly could not have enjoyed the process more. Everyone who I interacted with made me feel comfortable, welcome, and special! Because it truly is such a special time in one’s life, and I was in such good hands, it was one of the few aspects of wedding planning that wasn’t stressful at all. I also couldn’t believe how much detail and attention went into my dress. It amazed me how much the dress was fine-tuned to perfectly fit my body.’

Alexandra’s wedding dress was created from Italian Duchess Satin – Phillipa’s greatest love in fabric for its rich luster and luxurious heavy-weight quality. With a subtle sheen, the fabric caught the light beautifully as the couple enjoyed a post-ceremony walk during sunset in Andalusia, Spain.

Underneath the exquisite satin, a signature Phillipa Lepley corset was created for Alexandra to sculpt and support the bodice. The corseted waist created the defining silhouette Phillipa Lepley designs are renowned for, when contrasted with layers upon layer of carefully constructed petticoats under the skirt. These gave the skirt its regal volume and ensured that the gown held its shape effortlessly, allowing Alexandra to move with ease and confidence.

The refined off-the-shoulder neckline framed Alexandra’s collarbones and décolletage with an understated elegance. The satin drape neckline was hand-finished in a softly-tied bow on one side, lending a subtle touch of asymmetry to the gown’s clean lines. 

Complementing her gown was an exquisite two-tier silk tulle veil, embroidered entirely by hand with intricate Fern motifs. Having fallen in love with the veil during design appointments in the Phillipa Lepley Shop, the embroidery was the perfect counterpoint to the rich satin of the gown.

The fern motif held a personal resonance for Alexandra, a nod to her Seattle hometown roots where ferns are a familiar presence.

Creating a couture wedding dress with Phillipa Lepley is a special and bespoke process to each bride – every detail of Alexandra’s gown and veil was a reflection of her vision for a wedding look that was both timeless and deeply personal.
