Phillipa Lepley bride Alex’s hand-embellished couture wedding dress exemplifies the versatility and artistry synonymous with Phillipa Lepley. After exploring the full bridal collection at her appointment in the Phillipa Lepley Shop, Chelsea, Alex opted for a white Italian duchess satin strapless base dress with a hand-embellished fine tulle overlay for her wedding day.
The satin gown was expertly fit to Alex during a meticulous couture process – a special experience that becomes a cherished part of the wedding planning journey for Phillipa Lepley brides. Bespoke elements such as deepening the sweetheart ‘V’ neckline were refined on her during fittings to ensure it best complemented her frame.
Falling in love with the clean lines of the dress so much during her fittings, Alex chose to make her overlay detachable, allowing her to switch her bridal look during the day and celebrate her beautiful satin gown.
Catching the end of the summer’s sun, the overlay was adorned with a swirling arrangement of intertwining thread-work leaves and vines with hand-sewn glass crystals, beads and pearls – a lovely choice for her outdoor ceremony.
The embellished design organically flowed around her, whispered over the deep ‘V’ neckline and across sheer tulle cap sleeves that delicately skimmed the shoulders. The back neckline was finished with a demure, yet statement, low ‘V’ creating synergy with the front of the dress.
Alex opted to have the overlay cut longer than the satin dress, allowing the embellishment on the sheer tulle to shine. For the evening of her wedding, Alex opted to remove her detachable overlay, replacing it with a Diamanté Twist belt. Hand-embellished with individually placed Swarovski crystals, the belt added the sparkle back into her bridal look, perfect for the dancefloor.
Alex paired her couture wedding dress with a beautiful two-tier plain silk tulle veil, which she wore for the ceremony.
